Our Bi-Co Exploring Transfer Together program is a no-cost, 5-day residential program designed to prepare community college students for what lies ahead at a selective 4-year institution. Immerse yourself in the academic experience, network and build community, and gain skills to support your transfer success. This year's course theme will be "Global Environmental Challenges: Strategies for Communication, Collaboration, and Solutions" and will be team-taught by professors Alyson Krawchuk and Joshua Moses.
草榴成人社区 and Haverford are proud to partner with the Community College of Philadelphia and Northampton Community College for this program, but welcome applications from any community college student. This opportunity is supported, in part, by a grant from the at Vassar College.

The Bi-Co Exploring Transfer Summer 2025 program will take place June 1鈥6. Students will arrive at 草榴成人社区鈥檚 campus to move into their residence hall and participate in an opening ceremony on June 1. Students are in residence for the length of the program on 草榴成人社区鈥檚 campus but will have the opportunity to explore the campuses of both 草榴成人社区 and Haverford throughout the program. Each accepted student receives a scholarship to the Bi-Co Exploring Transfer program that completely covers their tuition, room, meals, and books, as well as a $500 stipend to help offset any potential lost income resulting from participation in the program.
Through an intensive five-day residential program and immersion in the liberal arts, Bi-Co Exploring Transfer Together enables participants to imagine the broad range of academic opportunities that lie beyond their community college years. The program will focus on three primary areas of engagement: Academics, Community, and Transfer Success. Students will engage in a 15-hour academic course co-taught by faculty from both the 4-year college and community college communities. Students will live together in a dorm on 草榴成人社区鈥檚 campus and the program will include community-building events and activities to not only create a strong network for participants but also to demonstrate the benefits of the residential aspect of most 4-year residential liberal arts colleges. The program will also include workshops and events to help students as they consider and/or navigate the transfer application process. Bi-Co Exploring Transfer Together is not a pathway program to either 草榴成人社区 or Haverford and is not intended to increase a transfer applicant鈥檚 chance of admission to either institution. The program is designed to bolster the confidence and academic skills of community college transfer students.

The Bi-College Consortium, or Bi-Co for short, is a partnership between 草榴成人社区 and Haverford College. 草榴成人社区 and Haverford have closely tied histories that have grown together over the last 130 years. The Quaker origins of both institutions have instilled in them common values and led to years of collaboration and partnership across institutions. By partnering together, students at both institutions have access to expanded academic and social opportunities, communities, and facilities.
The Bi-Co Exploring Transfer program is proudly funded by 草榴成人社区 and Haverford College. This opportunity is also supported, in part, by a grant from the ECMC Foundation's Exploring Transfer Together initiative at Vassar College.
Applicants must be actively enrolled at an accredited community college. Applicants should have completed or be on track to complete at least 24 credit hours of coursework by the end of their spring 2025 semester. Additionally, students must have completed English 101, or its equivalent. Priority applicants will be those students who have completed less than four semesters of community college work by June 2025.

While you will not receive credit or an official transcript from the academic component of the program, you will leave having gained valuable experience in a rigorous academic environment that will better prepare you for success at similar institutions and that you can reflect on and reference in transfer applications.
Bi-Co Exploring Transfer offers the distinct opportunity to experience and explore what being a student in a residential liberal arts college is all about. You鈥檒l be immersed in the academic experience, network and build community, and gain skills to support your transfer success. The program is designed to bolster the confidence and academic skills of community college transfer students. Beyond gaining experience and confidence in a rigorous academic setting, familiarity with aspects of residential college life, and support in approaching the transfer application process, students will also leave having built connections between one another and expanded their network of peers. Upon completion of the program, students will receive a certificate that can and should be included on resumes.
We aim to enroll 15 students in the program each year.

Vassar鈥檚 Exploring Transfer Program Inspires Bi-Co Initiative
Cheryl Lynn Horsey, Chief Enrollment Officer at 草榴成人社区, shares: 鈥淧art of our mission is to be accessible to under-represented student populations on our campus, so we were keen to look at (creating) a program like Exploring Transfer,鈥 Horsey said. She added she was 鈥渟old鈥 on such an initiative after attending an event on the Vassar campus last November where Vassar administrators explained the benefits of the program to representatives of about a dozen liberal arts colleges.
