A conversation with poet and novelist Eva BaltasarÂ

Eva Baltasar is one of the definitive voices of contemporary Catalan literature. She has published ten books of poetry, which have earned numerous awards, and four novels which have been widely translated into other languages. Baltasar's first novel, Permafrost, received the 2018 Catalan Booksellers Award. Her second novel Boulder was shortlisted for the 2023 Booker International Prize.
In this talk, being conducted in Spanish, the author will discuss her work in relation to the boom of neorural imaginaries in European fiction. In particular, she will discuss her third novel Mammoth (Mamut, 2022), which is not just another novel about escaping to the countryside but a ticking time bomb exposing the wounds of contemporary society.
This talk is co-sponsored by LAILS and the Department of Spanish at Haverford.
