Biography

Richie Gebauer (B.A. Franklin & Marshall College, 2005; M.Ed. James Madison University, 2007; Ed.D., Cabrini University, 2019) is the Dean of Student Success at ²ÝÁñ³ÉÈËÉçÇø.  Prior to ²ÝÁñ³ÉÈËÉçÇø, Dean Gebauer served as the Assistant Dean for Retention and Student Success at Cabrini University and as the Faculty Director of the IMPACT (Leadership) Living and Learning Community where he taught  writing, social justice, English and leadership studies coursework.

Dean Gebauer was the founding director of Cabrini University’s first-year experience and learning community program, with retention and persistence at the center of his work over the past decade. He has developed and supervised areas that include orientation, the first-year experience, learning communities, academic advising, study abroad, and academic support, each intentionally connected to core curriculum and supported by faculty and peer leaders.

Richie is a past president of the National Learning Community Association, as a resource faculty member for the Washington Center for Improving Undergraduate Education, and has served as a member of the editorial review board for the Journal of the First-Year Experience and Students in Transition (FYESIT), Learning Communities Research and Practice (LCRP), and e-Source for College Transitions. His research focuses on the impact of learning communities on both student perceptions of their integrative learning practices and student academic performance as it pertains to integrating learning across learning contexts.

Dean Gebauer’s scholarship focuses on research and practice pertaining to learning communities, first-year seminars, academic and professional advising, academic recovery programs, faculty-student interactions, and faculty learning communities.
