As we begin the semester, we're highlighting Bryn Mawr's newest faculty members. The College supports faculty excellence in both research and teaching.

Assistant Professor of Education Chanelle Wilson

The primary focus of Chanelle Wilson鈥檚 work is on improving educational conditions for students in marginalized and minoritized groups. Although there are a host of critical theories that inspire her, Wilson primarily employs critical race theory, culturally relevant pedagogy, and participatory action research as mainstays of her work. It is her goal that improving the educational experience for often marginalized students will create a more welcoming space for all students, and what it takes to accomplish this goal will only make instructors more effective leaders of classroom spaces. As she continues to work toward this in her research, Wilson is positive that meaningful conversations around race and multiculturalism that center culturally relevant and constructive practices can inspire more culturally competent and critically conscious teachers, students, and citizens who will endeavor to change the world for the better.

The 草榴成人社区/Haverford Education Program invites students to engage with educational studies through a range of roles and purposes: as researchers of the discipline of education; explorers of the interdisciplinary field of educational studies; as facilitators of others' learning inside and outside of schools; and participants in teaching experiences in diverse classroom and community settings.
