Field Liaisons
Christina Bach, MSW, LCSW, OSW-C
Christina Bach (she/her) holds her master’s degrees in social work and bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania and is a licensed clinical social worker. She is also a Certified Oncology Social Worker and a Fellow of the Association of Oncology Social Work. Christina is the Chair of the Board of Oncology Social Work Certification. Christina’s practice is focused in oncology and health care social work. She has worked in inpatient and outpatient physical health and oncology settings and currently works as the Psychosocial Content Editor for OncoLink.org. Here her practice centers on curating accessible patient and caregiver education content in coping with cancer, cancer risk reduction, financial toxicity, and cancer survivorship. She also works closely with her team to research patient experience and outcomes. Currently she is studying the implementation of trauma informed care practices with radiation therapists at Penn Medicine. She also has a keen interest in the use of technology and social media in conveying patient narrative and experience with medical trauma. Christina is dedicated to social work education, having mentored 20 social work students as a field liaison for six years. She also has taught in the social work programs at Temple University and the University of Pennsylvania. Clinically, Christina works as a Financial Specialist with the Cancer Support Community and also facilitates the Philadelphia Multiple Myeloma Networking Group. Christina also has vast experience in Animal Assisted Therapy and works regularly with her certified therapy dogs, Linus, Huckleberry and Eugene (in training).
Carolyn Cristofalo, MSW, LCSW
Carolyn Cristofalo is a licensed clinical social worker with 27 years of experience working with adults, seniors, and families in health care settings and in the community. Carolyn received her master’s degree in social work from the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy and Practice. She received her first level of social work licensure in Pennsylvania in 1996, and her Pennsylvania clinical social work license in 2010. She was a practitioner at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) for 21 years and gained extensive social work practice experience in the areas of internal medicine, rehabilitation, oncology and bone marrow transplant. Carolyn also spent many years serving as Penn’s first Independent Living Donor Advocate for the Kidney and Liver Transplant Departments. She was a Field Instructor for many years during her tenure at (HUP), and now serves as a Field Placement Coordinator and Field Liaison for the ²ÝÁñ³ÉÈËÉçÇø Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research. Carolyn has served the community as a volunteer in different roles for various organizations, including chairing the Board of Directors for CARIE (Center for Advocacy for the Rights and Interests of the Elderly) for many years. Carolyn’s practice interests include chronic illness, aging and related issues, loss and bereavement, social work education and advocacy at the individual and community levels.
Curtis P. Murray, MSS, LSW
Curtis Murray is a behavioral health professional with over 45 years of diverse social work and administrative experiences in child welfare, public health, residential facilities, education, health care settings and interdisciplinary collaboration. His areas of expertise include therapeutic intervention, counseling, supervision, program development, facilitated CASSP training workshops, and referrals and linkages to community resources. He has provided other professional trainings and worked with complex family situations from a variety of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. Additionally, he has gained working knowledge of Graduate Social Work School Field Education. Lastly, he served as a Medical Service Officer with the United States Army Reserve for fifteen years.
Charisse D. Rhone, MSS, LSW
Charisse Rhone has over 23 years of clinical experience as a medical social worker working with families, infants, children, and adolescents with chronic and life-threatening illnesses. She is the Heart Failure and Heart Transplant Social Worker in the Cardiac Center at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. She provides vital clinical expertise and psychosocial support to families, infants, children and adolescents in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit as well as cardiac outpatient clinic. Her skill, knowledge, and compassion allows these families to effectively navigate the healthcare system, while managing the complex needs of their health-compromised child. Charisse provides a unique focus on grief and loss and enhancing personal coping skills. Additionally, her clinical practice includes providing trauma-informed care and advocacy to mothers who have suffered the loss of a child to co-sleeping and to women impacted by domestic violence. Charisse is a graduate of the GSSWSR. She is passionate about supervising and mentoring future professional social workers as they seek to carry on the ²ÝÁñ³ÉÈËÉçÇø standards in their practice. Charisse is renewed by the spirit, energy, and varied perspectives of the graduate students she supports.
Tangela C. Sawyerr, DSW, MA, MSW
Tangela C. Sawyerr, DSW, MA, MSW, is a field education liaison at the Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research. She received her DSW and MSW degrees from the Rutgers University School of Social Work and a Master of Criminal Justice degree from the Rutgers University Graduate School-Camden. Tangela is a licensed social worker with decades of experience engaging the most vulnerable segments of our society, including pregnant and post-partum mothers on methadone maintenance, individuals experiencing homelessness, and abused/neglected children. Her qualitative research has been published in the Journal of Ethnicity in Criminal Justice. Tangela’s research interests focus on adult sibling bereavement, intersectionality, and the impact of structural inequalities on minoritized communities.
Jennifer Stone-Wynne, MSW, LSW
Jennifer Stone-Wynne received her MSW from the University of Pennsylvania and has been a medical social worker for over 25 years. She has worked in a variety of medical settings – inpatient acute hospital, rehabilitation and long term care, outpatient and primary care. Her areas of specialization include transplant, geriatrics, and immigrant populations. She currently works in an outpatient clinic providing primary and specialty medical care to vulnerable populations in Philadelphia and Montgomery Counties. She also developed and manages an MSW internship program at Jefferson Health, Abington Hospital. Her work is generally focused on removing structural and financial barriers to accessing quality health care.
Corrie Tice, MSS, LCSW
Corrie Tice, MSS, LCSW (she/they), is the Clinic Team Lead and Behavioral Health Consultant at Project HOME’s Integrated Care Clinic at Pathways to Housing PA. Corrie has practiced as a licensed social worker for the past 10 years, with their clinical experience centered in community healthcare, providing support and advocacy to adults experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, and persistent severe mental health disorders. Prior to their current role, Corrie served as a Team Leader for one of Pathways’ Assertive Community Treatment teams, and previously as the Social Services Manager for Philadelphia Health Management Corporation (PHMC)’s Health Network of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). Corrie’s interest areas include: the intersection of mental, physical, social, and economic health; harm reduction models in healthcare settings; health care equity; and social work field education. Corrie holds a Master’s degree in Social Services from ²ÝÁñ³ÉÈËÉçÇø and has served as a graduate level social work practice educator for the past eight years.
