  • Language: Chinese.
  • Fields of Study: The Beijing Chinese Language Program emphasizes intensive Chinese language study, and is for beginning through advanced students
  • Housing and Meals: Students live in double rooms in a dormitory on-campus with a local roommate selected by CET. Roommates are students at the host institution, Capital Normal University. There is no meal plan, but students have access to a communal kitchen and very affordable university cafeterias.
  • Registering for Courses: Students are placed into the appropriate level of Chinese language for a total of 17 credits. Students may not opt for any other form of registration without prior approval from the ²ÝÁñ³ÉÈËÉçÇø Study Abroad Office and the Registrar.
  • Eligibility: Recommended 3.0 GPA
  • Dates: Fall Semester: Late August to early December; Spring Semester: Mid-February to late May.

  • Fields of study: courses are offered by 61 departments under the faculties of Arts, Education, Engineering, Medicine, Science, and Social Science.
  • Housing and Meals: On-campus housing is available for undergraduate study abroad students. Some housing requires mandatory meal-plans. The campus has more than 20 canteens and students can pay by cash for meals.
  • Registering for Courses: Students will enroll in five courses, or 15 credits. Students may not opt for any other form of registration without prior approval from the ²ÝÁñ³ÉÈËÉçÇø Study Abroad Office and the Registrar.
  • Eligibility: GPA 3.0. Must be current undergraduate who has completed at least 2 academic terms of university studies.
  • Dates: Fall: Early September to late December; Spring: early January to mid-May.

  • Language: Instruction is in English.
  • Fields of Study: Health Sciences, Public Health, Development Studies, or other related fields. 
  • Housing and Meals: Homestay. All meals covered during the program. By living with Indian host families, students have an excellent opportunity to practice language skills and share daily life, including many memorable meals.
  • Registering for Courses: Credit value of each course is three. Students enroll in five courses, or 15 credits. Students may not opt for any other form of registration without prior approval from the ²ÝÁñ³ÉÈËÉçÇø Study Abroad Office and the Registrar.
  • Eligibility: GPA 2.5
  • Dates: Fall: August–December; Spring: early February–mid May.

  • Language: Instruction is in Japanese.
  • Fields of Study: Letters, Economics, Science and Technology, Policy Management, Environment and Information Studies, and Japanese. 
  • Housing and Meals: Students live in dormitories or rented apartments. Students prepare their own meals. In some dorms, meals are provided.
  • Registering for Courses: Credit value of each course is one or two. Students enroll in 10-12 courses, or 16-24 credits. Students may not opt for any other form of registration without prior approval from the ²ÝÁñ³ÉÈËÉçÇø Study Abroad Office and the Registrar.
  • Eligibility: By nomination. GPA 3.0
  • Nomination Procedure: All submitted nominations are final, and cannot be reversed. Students who are approved and nominated by the Study Abroad Committee to study at Keio University are accepting a place on the program and must make a commitment to attend, provided that they are accepted by Keio. The Dean’s Office will forward the names of all nominated students to Keio. In addition, students will receive application instructions from the Dean’s Office to complete the Keio application online.
  • Dates: Academic Year: September to July; Spring Semester (first semester in Japan): April to July; Fall Semester is not available.

  • Nomination Procedure: All submitted nominations are final, and cannot be reversed. Students who are approved and nominated by the Study Abroad Committee to study at Tsuda University are accepting a place on the program and must make a commitment to attend, provided that they are accepted by Tsuda. The Dean’s Office will forward the names of all nominated students to Tsuda. In addition, students will receive application instructions from the Dean’s Office, and the Dean’s Office will facilitate the application submission to Tsuda.

  • Housing and Meals: Students may choose between university dormitories with kitchen facilities or homestays with meal plans with Japanese families (for students who already speak some Japanese). Dormitories are 40-50 minutes from the campus by subway; homestays may be 1.5 to 2 hours away ("a common commuting distance for Japanese workers"). 
  • Registering for Courses: Credit value of each course is three or four. Students enroll in five courses, or 15 credits. Students may not opt for any other form of registration without prior approval from the ²ÝÁñ³ÉÈËÉçÇø Study Abroad Office and the Registrar.
  • Eligibility: GPA 2.75

Kazakhstan

  • Language: Instruction is in Russian.
  • Fields of Study: Russian Language and Culture, History, and Political Science. 
  • Housing and Meals: Students live in dormitories or with host families. In both cases, two meals per day are provided.
  • Registering for Courses: Credit value of each course is 0.5 or 1.0 or 1.5 units. Students enroll in three or four courses, or four units. Students may not opt for any other form of registration without prior approval from the ²ÝÁñ³ÉÈËÉçÇø Study Abroad Office and the Registrar.
  • Eligibility: GPA 2.7
  • Dates: Fall Semester: early September to mid-December; Spring Semester: mid-January to mid-May

Kyrgyzstan

  • Language: Instruction in English, Russian
  • Field of Study: Russian Language; Russian, Central Asian & Post Soviet Studies
  • Housing: Students have the option to live in Russian-speaking homestays or in a residence hall with American University of Central Asia peers
  • Registering for Courses: Students take 9 units of Russian language courses taught through Bard College, and choose an additional two academic subject courses of 6 units taught through the American University of Central Asia. Students can also take an optional phonetics course of 2 units. Students are registered for no less than 15 units and no more than 18 units. Students may not opt for any other form of registration without prior approval from the ²ÝÁñ³ÉÈËÉçÇø Study Abroad Office and the Registrar.
  • Eligibility: At least two years of college-level Russian
  • Dates: Fall: August-December; Spring: January-(late) May

Singapore

  • Language: Instruction is in English.
  • Fields of Study: Subjects are offered in College of Humanities, Arts & Social Sciences. 
  • Housing and Meals: Students apply to live in one the Halls of Residence based on double occupancy. Exchange students' rooms are allocated randomly and requests for transfer of Halls and roommates shall not be entertained. Students with medical conditions that have specific requests will have to submit a doctor’s letter certifying the condition which shall be verified by NTU medical centre. Students unsuccessful in their application for on-campus accommodation shall be recommended off-campus accommodations at hostels located within short bus rides to NTU.
  • Registering for Courses: Exchange students usually take 3 to 5 courses per semester based on 3 or 4 AU per course (subjected to home university's and NTU's approval). This is between 16 to 18 AUs.Students may not opt for any other form of registration without prior approval from the ²ÝÁñ³ÉÈËÉçÇø Study Abroad Office and the Registrar.
  • Eligibility: By Nomination. GPA 3.0.
  • Nomination Procedure: All submitted nominations are final, and cannot be reversed. Students who are approved and nominated by the Study Abroad Committee to study at Nanyang Technological University are accepting a place on the program and must make a commitment to attend, provided that they are accepted by the institution. The Dean’s Office will forward the names of all nominated students to Nanyang Technological University. In addition, students will receive application instructions from the Dean’s Office to complete the Nanyang Technological University application online.   
  • Dates: Fall: early August to December; Spring: January to May.

  • Language: Instruction is in Korean and English.
  • Fields of Study: Architecture, Art History, Astronomy, Atmospheric Science, Biology, Biology Technology, Chemistry,  Chinese,  Computer Science,  East Asian Studies, Economics,  History, International Relations, Korean Language, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Religion, Sociology,  Urban Planning 
  •  Housing and Meals: Residence hall with shared doubles and hall kitchens or homestays.  Residence hall is on site.  Homestays may be a 40 to 80 minute public transit commute and include breakfast and dinner daily.  
  • Registering for Courses: Students must take 15-16 semester credit hours each semester. The  mandatory Korean language course is 6 credit hours; all other courses are 3 credit hours each. At least one elective must have a Korean focus. Students may not opt for any other form of registration without prior approval from the ²ÝÁñ³ÉÈËÉçÇø Study Abroad Office and the Registrar.

  • Housing and Meals: Students live in a shared apartment with a local roommate. There is no meal plan, but students have access to a communal kitchen and very affordable university cafeterias.
  • Registering for Courses: Students will enroll in 12 credits of intensive Chinese Language at National Taiwan University, based on placement by CET. Students take one additional 3 unit course in English. Students may not opt for any other form of registration without prior approval from the ²ÝÁñ³ÉÈËÉçÇø Study Abroad Office and the Registrar.
  • Eligibility: Recommended GPA 3.0
  • Dates: Fall Semester: Late August to late-November; Spring Semester: Late February to late May.

Ready to Apply?

Applying to study abroad is a two-step process during your sophomore year.  First, you must apply for BMC approval to study abroad by the required deadline.  Next, when you have received approval through BMC, you must apply for admission to the program of your choice.
