Bias Response
²ÝÁñ³ÉÈËÉçÇø's Position Regarding Bias and Discrimination
²ÝÁñ³ÉÈËÉçÇø seeks to sustain a community diverse in nature and democratic in practice, for we believe that only through considering many perspectives do we gain a deeper understanding of ourselves, each other and the world. The College is committed to creating a learning environment in which community members' safety and success are not hindered by discrimination or harassment. At the same time, we acknowledge that no campus community is removed from larger systemic issues, such as racism, homophobia, religious intolerance, sexism, classism and other forms of prejudice and discrimination.
The College will address acts of bias and discrimination in our community through a range of educational, restorative and/or disciplinary interventions in order to create a safe and secure environment for all of our students, faculty and staff. Whether a specific act constitutes a violation of the College's policy on discrimination—or of state or federal laws regarding hate crimes—will be determined in light of all relevant circumstances.
